Longmire Lodging

The Parks Service has been supplying us with one of the original ranger residences built by the WPA. These houses have historical landmark status and are usually reserved for permanent park employees. Our cabin has space for 7-8 patrollers and it is our goal to fill up the cabin each week.

Nordic Patrol Housing

The house has a bedroom and half-bath upstairs, with a large landing at the top of the stairs. There are a full bathroom, two bedrooms, large living room, and a large kitchen dining area downstairs. There is a basement drying area and enclosed garage that allows us to shed wet or snowy gear without tracking it through the house.

Most parking for our cars is limited to the overnight parking area at Longmire. Sometimes there is room for one or two cars at the cabin. We may also have to adjust our parking to the Longmire plowing schedule; in this case the rangers will advise us. We have a handout that shows our residence and the parking areas; please contact Lynn Tucker before heading down to the mountain for details.

Finally you should know that there are mice in "Nordic House." Do not encourage their visits by leaving food out. We are seeking folks willing to donate or lend mouse-proof containers for the house. If you are squeamish about mice, don't worry... it is not like the mouse scene in Never Cry Wolf. Our mice are small, infrequent and generally well-behaved.
